After a marvelous afternoon spent slurping oysters with the Oxbow boys, we decide to take them out for a little surprise of our own. Mama Joan had given us the inside tip on a special event on the menu at Wabi Sabi, so we take full advantage. The instructions are simple: meet us down the road when the day’s batch is done.
They arrive to a cottage cloaked in darkness and full of food to feed the soul.
SOUP NIGHT AT WABI SABI, DOWN THE ROAD FROM OXBOW BREWERY.

An armchair beckons a quick nap before the feasting begins:

Mama Joan takes a break from the kitchen to greet guests as they arrive:

Dinner time! Tim of Oxbow chows down on some excellent chowda:

Jen and Fava relish their food comas, which have been quick to set in:

Dinner would not be complete without a couple bites of rustic apple pie smothered in cinnamon (accompanied, of course, by an Oxbow saison):

Celeste, the lady behind Oxbow’s tasting room, basks in the cottage’s delicious light…

…As Bill and Mama Joan look on, satisfied…

…And bid us good night.
